You know when you see something and tell yourself "aww so nice, i have to do this" moment?  I had that moment when I saw this while browsing in the www.  I just love the idea!

So I did not wait because I knew all the supplies are in hand already.  I'm so glad that I did because it is super cute.

A couple of days ago, I was browsing one of my favorite blogs & the owner of The DIY'ers Party, Home Coming.  You should stop by because her and her husband are just the diy team of a kind!

While there, she mentioned about this style quiz that she took and it got me interested.  So I took it.

The DIY'ers Party

Hello, hello my friends! Welcome back to yet another week of this awesome The DIY'ers party!  Love the wonderful projects that you guys shared over here.

Just want to share something odd.  Has it ever happened to you that people are pinning and repinning your photo but that post has the least comment of all posts?
Say this photo has been pinned/repinned a lot lately, but I only got one comment.
I mean, I'm glad that people pin and/or repin, but no comment or whatsoever.  That's odd right?  Or it is just me.

Last week's The DIY'ers party was so successful and I would like to say thank you for sharing all your projects.  I may not have visited all of you but I really tried my best to say stop by, say hi and check out some really inspiring projects.

Have you been diy'ing and is ready to link up here?

Create Your Own Watch Tray

Do you have a vodka box like this? Well, don't throw those boxes away.
Really, as in any kind boxes - shoe boxes, cereal boxes, diaper boxes, etc - if it is thick, sturdy & strong, KEEP IT.

Look at what I did with the lid of this box, it's now a decorative tray that holds my watches.
I really don't have that much watches but they were used to be stored in a white bowl.  Not too safe from scratches, eh.
diy earring holder
I was hoping that I could diy a watch holder but no light-bulb moment is going around in my head lately.  It could be from too much master closet organizing, I'm loosing my creative juices!! lol!

But anyway, to make the decorative tray like mine, you can do it in three easy steps.
Who does not want a super easy & super pretty project like this!

Super excited about this thing called Polyvore.  Honestly, I did not know that this existed until I came to visit one of my favorite blogs Hi Sugarplum! and she's hosting a contest project decorate.

Went to the website and my oh my, this thing is super cool!!♥  Can you believe that that photo above is my first creation!! wowzah right?

Okay, before hearing about this Polyvore from Cassie, I thought before when I see collages like this, is that they are from an expensive program that designers use to create an inspiration board.  But gosh oh gosh, it is totally not!

I guess you'll be seeing more of my boards in the future.

Thanks to you Cassie for introducing me to Polyvore.

Disclaimer:  I am in no way compensated or endorsing the product mentioned in this post.  I am just stating what's all based on my personal experience.  Nothing that I received in return unless I win that Anthropologie $500 gift card.  How cool would that be!♥

{Organizing Master Closet} Phase 1: Use Uniform Hangers, Arrange By Color & Roll instead of Fold

Use Uniform Hangers
Oh what a big difference using uniform hangers make to our master closet.
Okay, I never thought of that before I actually tried it myself.

I used to get excited when the girl behind the counter asks me if I wanted the hanger?  And I always gladly say "YES!".

Not knowing the consequences after that.  A mismatched hangers will make your closet look cluttered.
I especially hate the fact that some of these hangers are twistable! uggh!

I invested on the slim-velvet black hangers to replace the ones we have, except for the white plastic ones that I kept.  Bye, bye mismatched hangers, hello uniform hangers!
That not only make it look uncluttered, it also maximizes the use of space.

Arrange by Color
It would be nice to keep it organized but it would be nicer if it is arranged by color.
Three advantages:
1)it's easier to plan your outfit for the day;
2)it's easy on the eyes;
3)your closet looks prettier.
His basketball jersey used to be stored in a plastic stackable container & now it's hung nicely too.
You'd think I'm Kobe Bryant's wife just by looking how much basketball jersey shirts this man I married has!
You can totally see the resemblance, right?! lol! jk! ☺ No, kidding aside, The Mr. just like to play basketball as his hobby/exercise & a big Lakers fan too.  Although I may not be married to Kobe himself, I am married to a man who's a big fan of Kobe.  Close enough ♥

I love the fact how the velvet hangers hold this jersey shirts really good - not slipping at all.

Roll Instead of Fold
For items like undershirts & basketball shorts, you might want to consider rolling it inside a drawer or a canvass bin like I did.
On the "hang or not to hang" question from the intro yesterday, I made a decision to hang the following items that used to be folded:
                   • His button down shirts
                   • His long-sleeve shirts
                   • His basketball jersey shirts
                   • His dress pants
                   • His sweat pants
                   • Her blazer,jackets & button down shirts
                   • Her chiffonny tops
                   • Her jeans & slacks

That's it for today guys.

Okay, have you noticed how something that's anything on the wire shelving is showing underneath, like on the first photo above?  Annoying, right? And since we cannot afford to have custom built-ins, I've come up with a solution for that to make it look better.  Can't wait to share it to you all.

{Organizing Master Closet} Introduction & Sneak Peak

Even though I have mentioned here that I am so tired because I was working so hard over the weekend.  I could also say that I am so proud of what I have accomplished so far.  Here's a sneak peak.
organize with uniform hangers
I love organizing.  But honestly, tackling a large space to organize is overwhelming for me.  That is why; I come up with a plan before doing that.

Let me share to you some tips that I learned along the way but first here’s a little description of this closet.
     * It is small.

     * It is a walk-in, kind of rectangular shape.
     * Has wire shelving from the builder & some wood shelving installed by The Mr.
     * It is a shared His & Hers closet.

Unlike maybe most of you have your own closet space, I share mine with The Mr.
It maybe walk-in but it is not large.

To start with organizing this space, here are some tips that you can learn.

Assess the space.
It is part of my 2014 Goals to organize our master’s closet.  The need to do that is obvious enough when you look at the picture before I touched it.  By assessing the space, it helped me imagine how I want the space to eventually look like & figure out the need to re-arrange the existing shelves that The Mr. already has installed.
Look for inspiration.
I checked my favorite blogs’ master closet first and then look even more on pinterest.
My search tags to get what I was looking include small closet organizing & shared closet organizing.

The best part about getting inspiration from a blog is that it gives me that 360 degree view of the space.  Unlike from the magazines or the www, or worst pinterest without the site source, you can only see one & the rest of the space are left for you to imagine what it looks like.

Decide on to hang or not to hang.
By assessing your close space & finding inspiration, you will then need to make the biggest decision of your life: “to hang or not to hang”.  It will all come down to the goal of maximizing your closet space.  Once you’ve made that decision, write down the items you need to make that dream closet happen.  Based on that list, start shopping inside your house first then cross out that item along the way.  If there are items on your list that are left uncrossed out, ask yourself if you needed those in the early stage of the organizing process or can it wait later towards the end of the process.

Designate a space.
If you love to draw, then you can draw your closet and write down the items where you want it to be.  Decide if you want that zone to be hers or his side.  For me. I printed my closet photo onto a regular paper & wrote down the items on the paper where I want those to be.

Then start rockin!

If you feel overwhelm during the process, go back to your inspiration.
I just want to give Carmel of Our Fifth House a huge shout out!
Because this girl has the same closet description as mine and you should see how she rock her small closet & make it work for her & her husband!
closet_organization_ideas
{our fifth house}
I can’t remember how many times I go back and forth looking at every little detail how she organized her closet.
Okay, she does not know me or probably does not even know I exist, but
“Carmel, you inspired me♥”

I will be posting this master closet organizing process phase by phase, so come back for more updates!
