So What If Google Reader Shuts Down?{plus bloglovin tutorial}

Okay, my friend Anne (thanks Anne for the info) told me today that Google Reader will shutdown and that it's all over the www.

So I searched and found the official article  from Google - and take note it is part of their spring cleaning and it's not just the Google Reader that they are shutting it down but there are more on the list, to read the full article - click here.

But DO NOT PANIC!

So What If Google Reader Shuts Down?  It is not the end of the world

There are a lot of alternatives that you can subscribe that is similar to Google Reader that are also RSS feed readers, one of these is BlogLovin.  In fact, when you search the www with "rss feed readers" it will give you a whole new hope.

Take note, Anne told me that she is already on bloglovin and I decided to go for it since it has a pretty good feedback and it looks user-friendly.
Follow on Bloglovin
you can follow me at bloglovin
And today, I am going to share you how easy it is to migrate from Google Reader to BlogLovin.  There will be three sections to this tutorial : 1)Migration of your favorite blogs to Bloglovin 2)Claiming your blog 3)Creating your bloglovin follow button

Important Note: This is for blogspot blogger only, apologies to wordpress users, I don't have a tutorial for you...

Here's the tutorial:
1) Migration of your favorite blogs to Bloglovin

2) Claiming your blog

2) Creating your bloglovin follow button
Then position that widget wherever you want, mine is on my right sidebar.

  7. Thanks for this info, Rea! It's important for people to know, too, that Google Reader is NOT the same thing as Google Friend Connect. I've never used Google Reader (and to be honest, I didn't really like it that much). Google has not said that GFC will be retiring, and it's not on the Spring Cleaning list (I checked earlier today). I'm so glad that I do have bloglovin, though (and I bet bloglovin is REALLY happy about google reader saying its farewell). Now I'm going to go through and make sure to import all the blogs from Google reader, because I know I didn't do that when I signed up for bloglovin.
    Thanks again!

  10. I was thinking that Google Reader was the same as Google Friend Connect, and I couldn't understand why on earth they were getting rid of it. Glad to hear it's not the same. I do give my readers the option to follow me on Bloglovin as well.

    Great post!

  12. There's still reading on your dashboard which is what I've done from day one. They can get rid of Google reader all they want. Gonna suck if they take that GFC b/c how will we know how many followers we have. I dont even use BlogLovin'. even though I had folks in it. I need to use it more
